Chess XI: Silver Lining
2024
Glazed porcelain, plywood structure
(installation at National Kaohsiung Univeristy of Science and Technology Arts Center)
The Checkmate series introduces a silver lining of chess pieces, bending and twisting to open the board. Modelled after antique wooden tournament chess pieces, the porcelain pieces are crafted through slip casting and finished with a metallic glaze. The king, queen, rook, knight, bishop, and pawn appear immobilised within the designed territorial confines of this new game.
