The Checkmate series is a collection of playfully unplayable games, starting from the confrontation between the International chess of representational three-dimensional figurines and Chinese chess, Xiangqi, of discs with symbolic written characters. The series of sculptural and installation works adopt pictographic Chinese characters, compressed of fundamental Eastern aesthetics, philosophy, medicine and science, as a way to speak about metaphors of worldly images and universal truths.
