Sisyphus’ Return: An Apocalyptic Inspection

‘This exhibition explores Sisyphus-like relation between individuals and the external environment in the 2020 context by presenting Cindy Cheng I-Hsin’s Earthtrotter (2020) in which she realizes new sculptural installations with the ongoing performative long-term project MADE IN TAIWAN (2018 -). Earthtrotter addresses the theme of projected identity and the inner nostalgic longing for an imagined wholeness, presenting viewers a pair of new lenses to reimagine the linkage extending from everyday imprint to the perceived identity, and the personal memory to the collective consciousness.’
